Back to Africa, Part 3: Fogo, Cabo Verde
Fogo, our 3rd island. A fascinating place completely different. A massive volcano with 100s of side crates, some still periodically active.

São Nicolau, the 2nd island we’re visiting extensively. A pretty remote place, receiving just few tourists. Yet, a beautiful place to explore, many interesting hikes, and no danger of being overrun by organized hiking groups on their streamlined all-inclusive adventure trips.
Escaping Swizzylands winter to sunny Cabo Verde. To the epic island of Santo Antão. To experience a world we could barely imagine before. Otherworldly landscapes and locals living in a unique blend of Africa, Brazil, and Portugal.
Our last days in Bulgaria: the Rila Monastery and Melnik, then off to Greece. Some lazy days in Halkidiki before heading to the west, to Igoumenitsa to catch the ferry to Ancona, and then on to cold’n’foggy Swizzyland for hibernation.
A trip thru a country that’s quite different and still much more influenced by the communist era than its neighbors. From laid-back rural landscapes and interesting towns and villages to Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital.
The trip thru Transylvania’s heartland. The fascinating towns of Sibiu, Brasov and a real Disneyland – Bran Castle. Then on to Bucharest, Romania’s grim capital.
