Hibernation. Already for 2 weeks. We’re in foggy Swizzyland. Looking thru the window: rain, fog, some remains of snow – a few days ago they were snow-white, by now rather greyish black.

Even not worth taking a pic of this miserable view.

Anna contacts us to inform that she nominated us for the Liebster Award. One highlight – at least.

Thanx Anna from http://annasherchand.com  for remembering us. She has a wonderful blog with even more wonderful pics.

Then a question from Anna: if we remember her.

Of course we do. We were sitting in a rather lousy restaurant in Don Khone, Laos trying to take some comfort in a couple of beers. 2 persons joined – 1 of them Anna. Later a 3rd 1 arrived – a German. We started exchanging some roadside tales; complaining our miserable destiny on Laos’ 4000 Islands and the hopless tendencies in the world’s politics. Then we exchange the addresses of our Websites: have some cocktails. Suddenly the companion with Anna feels slightly but still terribly sick – must be the mediocre food. So they have to leave.

Consequently, the German guy has no chance than to empty all remaining cocktails before trying to find his balance on the way back.

So far the story behind it.

Anyway, what the hell is the Liebster Award? We remember we heard about it.

Anna explains the secret in her post. Google gives further information. Want to know more:  https://wordingwell.com/the-liebster-award-the-official-rules-my-first-blog-award-and-a-few-personal-secrets-revealed/ – maybe other sites have even more or slightly different information.

Whatever is the plain truth it’s an excellent idea to make blogs a little more known and to link bloggers.

And here the answers to Anna’s questions:

1. Are you an Introvert or Extrovert?

Rather extrovert. But it depends. Of course travelling around with our own car as a main occupation contradicts strongly to an introvert lifestyle.

By the way – blogging too.

2. How has that (answer to #1) changed the way you travel?

Hasn’t changed at all. The way to travel is rather a consequence of being intro- or extrovert. Of course, travelling for many months also means daily new contacts, new acquaintances and sometimes finding new friends.

Maybe time for us to become slightly more systematic with all persons we meet in order not to mix up or not to forget to remember somebody. Maybe also time to link up more on blogs or social media with everybody – what we currently neglect.

3. What is your favorite, unique travel experience? Did you plan it, or did it just happen?

For Martin probably the simple fact to have planned to travel from southern Africa to southern America – of course as much as possible overland.

And currently having made about half of it – maybe the same applies for Monika too.

Of course this trip was planned – or maybe rather dreamed of. Once on the road it’s rather happening, not following too much planning.

For Monika (please consider this answer is given by Martin only): In 1980, her unique experience was probably the encounter with a cockroach (as big as an elephant) in a filthy bathroom in a lousy hotel in Borneo. Another highlight could be standing on the top of Kilimanjaro or Ruwenzori in 2012 (on our way to Argentine).

4. If attached, how do you stay at peace on the road?  If not attached, how do you date on the road?

Definitely we don’t always stay at peace – easy, isn’t it?

And of course, we’re still able to find our way back to each other. Not that easy – of course.

5. Where would you want to live the rest of your life and why?

We’ve been working nomads, later travelling nomads since we’ve made our masters. We don’t really plan to settle definitely.

We still have a kind of small refuge in Swizzyland. We’ll keep it mainly for hibernation. And maybe for the future should we ever limit our adventures to review pics we made long time ago.

6. What are few of your travel tips to save money?

We don’t think too much about money – don’t worry too much about issues out of your reach. We simply maintain our lifestyle avoiding all these places where we’d spend more than we should.

7. Are you planning on working 9-5 again or keep travelling until your money runs out?

We had this 9-5 life for many years. Fortunately with some sabbaticals in between. In 2014 we stopped in order to travel. Should our financial planning fail, probably salary slavery would be again the ultimate option for the time being.

8. How much of your time is spent on writing new posts, versus promotion on social media?

90 to 10. We largely neglect social media. Cannot do all.

9. What made you break the norm and become a traveler?

Why is somebody thinking nomadism is not a norm?

10. What is your biggest fear?

1 of us may no longer be willing or able to be a nomad.

11. What 3 books changed your life positively?

We think it needs more than books to influence life. Nevertheless, when Martin was 18 years old he read in this stupid Reader’s Digest Magazine an article about Benares (Varanasi) in India – and a year later he was on the Hippy Trail.

Having done all this incredible hard work of answering these questions gives us the right to nominate 5 other bloggers deserving the same honor. Of course, they’re all absolutely free to refuse the award and to remain in absolute loneliness.

Being exited by their informative, creative and/or just beautiful blogs we ask the authors of the following blogs to accept their nomination:
